Welcome, I am Mike Jackson a qualified counsellor and supervisor based in Somerset in the UK. Here you can find out more information about my counselling private practice and the kind of support I can provide for you or a loved one. My work includes working with adults, children and young people from the age of 10 and upwards. If you would like to discuss anything further please do give me a call or email for a conversation or consultation.
Professional training and background
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor with a Diploma Level 5 in Counselling.
I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society MNCPS (Acc.).
I also hold a Diploma qualification in Supervision providing support for counsellors in their professional work
who are qualified or in training.
With over 10 years of working, studying and volunteering in the mental health sector, charity services
and private practice I have extensive knowledge, understanding and experience regarding mental health
and supporting people with various conditions or difficulties.
With a varied background in my working life prior to becoming a counsellor,
I have experience working with children and young people in the education sector,
hospitality and catering industry, construction industry and highways & roads sector.
What led me to becoming a counsellor was my own mental health, life experiences, life situations and traumas in the past. The support I got from other professionals and guidance years ago led me on a path to provide support for others who might be going through something similar.

Counselling
I am a person-centred counsellor using an integrative framework. My work is underpinned by different approaches including humanistic approaches, cognitive behavioural therapy, Mindfulness, solution focused and creative ways of working. In working with you I provide the space for you to be able to be yourself and explore what you would like to in a confidential, supportive and reflective safe setting. I feel being integrative in my approach provides you with the space that is also adaptable to ensure I am able to provide you with what you want to be able to grow
or discuss something that has affected you.
I truly believe that if we can just be heard unconditionally and not be judged while we are being open about our experiences or situation then we can find a way to cope with whatever we are dealing with. I endeavour to provide this to anyone that decides counselling can help them through and make some changes in their life.
I can provide you with a confidential space to talk and explore face to face about those feelings, thoughts and behaviours that might be affecting you within a confidential, supportive and reflective safe setting. This I believe can be the healing process you need to feel better and to help build your resilience for now and the future.

Counselling I can provide support for
I provide counselling for adults as well as young people aged 10 and upwards.
Grief, Loss and Bereavement
One of my areas of specialities in counselling is around grief and loss. My work has seen me provide support and counselling for those who have lost someone to death, life-limiting conditions, sudden deaths, suicide and complicated grief. I have supported people who have had to follow the Coroners’ Court processes due to a loved one's death that requires an investigation. My various roles have also seen me counselling and supporting those with a life-limiting illness, those caring for them and bereavement support after they have passed. Loss can also include the “non-death” losses we experience which can include relationships, friendships, jobs, housing, illness, injury or financial losses.
Children and Young People
Another area of my work is providing support and counselling for children and young people from the age of 10 and upwards. I have experience counselling young people from diverse backgrounds in both private and volunteer roles.
Stress, Anxiety, Panic attacks & physical symptoms
I have worked with many people trying to deal with stress & anxiety as well as one of the reasons I became a counsellor due my own stress and anxiety which included panic attacks and physical symptoms. If you or someone you know are struggling with this we can work through this and help reduce the symptoms.
